A little about us...

Our Staff

  • David Jackson (owner): A 1975 graduate of Lawton Eisenhower High School and a 1979 graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a BA in Music degree, David has been with the company since 1980. At that time he was Store Manager, until January of 1998 when owner Don Phillips retired and sold the business to him. Along with a degree in piano, he has been involved with electronic keyboards since 1979, when as keyboardist with Wings of Light, a contemporary Christian band, his setup consisted of a Rhodes electric piano and an early Roland monophonic synthesizer. He still performs and records with several local musicians in various styles, including big-band jazz, contemporary Christian, and salsa.

  • David Wilson (guitar department manager): David took charge of guitar sales, maintenance, and repair in mid-April 2004. He is no stranger, however, having worked here part-time from 1992 through 1995. He has taught private guitar lessons for over twenty years and has performed with several local bands over the years. He has fully embraced computer-based recording, operating a project studio at our education center and providing hands-on product support on our in-store PC.

  • Graydon Miller Jr.: Graydon came to work part-time in 1988 after "retirement" from thirty years as owner of Miller Band Instrument Company. His knowledge of the band instrument industry proved invaluable as Phillips Music expanded into that market. (Note: Graydon passed away in March of 2002. His contribution to the Lawton music community will be missed, and his bio remains here as a small tribute.)

  • Kaetlyn Brennan: Kaetlyn started part-time with us in mid-August of 2007. A graduate of Lawton High School, where she was active in Band, Vocal Music, and Yearbook, she is a student at Cameron University majoring in Elementary Education.

  • Bradford Reeves: Bradford began working in the store in mid-January of 2009. Born in Ada, he graduated from Duncan High School in 2006. He's a big fan of Progressive Jazz (and cats) and plays guitar in a variety of styles. All time favorite guitar player - Pat Metheny. He recently launched his own business - Reeves Strength and Conditioning - where he spends weekdays as a private fitness coach.
  • Tasha Hoahwah: Tasha came on board full time in July of 2012 right after our 'big move'. She is from Elgin, having graduated from Elgin High School in 2011. She was active in Band, playing clarinet and as Drum Major. Her favorite part of Band, however is Color Guard - she has spent 2 summers traveling with Forte' as a color guard member.
  • Tony Bertram: Tony is no stranger, having taught lessons in our Ed Center for several years. In October of 2012, he altered his career path as a public school educator and opted for the world of retail, becoming the first Phillips Music 'drum guy'. He's an active local musician, both as a drummer and as half of a guitar/vocal duo.

Meet the Teachers...

the PMEC "faculty"

  • David Wilson - Education Center Coordinator - teaches guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, and Producers Class. David brings over 20 years of teaching experience to our program and is responsible for the day-to-day workings of our Center. He enjoys many styles of music - especially Classical, Jazz, and anything by Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. He's currently producing several recording projects at Black Lab Studios located inside our all new Ed Center.
  • Michael Wood - teaches guitar. Also from Lawton, Michael graduated from Lawton Eisenhower High School in 1968 and the University of Oklahoma in 1972. He also has a Masters Degree from the Florida Institute of Technology. His favorite guitar players include Pete Huttlinger, Tommy Emmanuel, and Doyle Dykes. Michael has numerous years of experience playing fingerstyle acoustic guitar and enjoys sharing the joy of making music with others. When not picking, he can be found gardening and landscaping at home.
  • Tony Bertram - teaches guitar, drum set and percussion. Another Lawton native, Tony graduated from Lawton High School in 2003. He received his Bachelor in Music from Cameron University in 2008, and began working full time in our store as the 'drum guy' in October of 2012. He's an active local musician and is also interested in music production. His current favorite drummer - Joey Jordison of Slipknot.
  • Spenser Jones - teaches violin, viola, and cello. Spenser is a native of Oklahoma City and is currently a Music Education major at Cameron University. He loves blending traditional and contemporary musical styles, including hip-hop into his playing.
  • Jordan Brickhouse - teaches voice. Jordan hails from Altus, OK. She graduated from Altus High School in 2010 and is currently a Senior Vocal Music Education Major at Cameron University. She enjoys listening to various styles of music, including Jazz, Classical, and 80's & 90's Rock. Favorite vocalists include Rene Fleming and Adele. She also enjoys baking and is an aspiring author.
  • Clint Williams - teaches brass. Clint is another local product. He attended Lawton Eisenhower Jr High and High School, graduating in 2004. Currently a Cameron University student pursuing a degree in Composition, minoring in Tuba and Vocal Performance. He's had compositions published and can be found on Facebook at Clint A. Williams Music. He's also a self-professed "purveyor of useless information".
  • Hannah Huffine - teaches beginning piano and guitar. Born in Virginia, Hannah grew up as a "mobile home-schooler", even spending time in Europe and the Middle East as a pre-teen and teenager. She began a serious pursuit of music in 2008, both as worship leader and playing several instruments. Her musical tastes include Adele, Muse, and Hillsong. HH trivia - she really likes using 'fake' accents.
